Methi Thepla/Dhebra Recipe – How To Make Fenugreek & Wheat Flour Flatbread

METHI THEPLA - FENUGREEK & WHEAT FLOUR FLATBREAD

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl, Non stick fry pan/skillet

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bunch fresh fenugreek leaves - finely chopped, stems
  • 2 tbsp cumin/coriander powder mix
  • 2 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1.5 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp green chili paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 6 tbsp veg.oil
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour to dredge Thepla dough

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl add all ingredients including 4 tbsp oil,. Keep remaining 2 tbsp of oil to brush it over Methi Thepla during cooking.
  • Mix everything well then build the dough to a medium consistency. Add water if need be.
  • Make 2 inch round dough balls & flatten them one at a time. Dust them one by one in all purpose flour and roll them flat. Again one at a time.
  • Cook each flattened Thepla in a preheated pan/skillet, about 2 minutes on medium-low heat. Brush both sides with veg. oil as each side turns brown.
  • Remove to a serving plate. Makes about 12 Methi Theplas.
  • Wallah! Your Methi Tehpla/Dhebra are done.

Notes

Methi Thepla can be stored for a week in the fridge. They also make a great snack on long road trips. Enjoy!
