- 1 bunch fresh fenugreek leaves - finely chopped, stems
- 2 tbsp cumin/coriander powder mix
- 2 cloves chopped garlic
- 1.5 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp green chili paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 pinch asafoetida
- salt to taste
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 6 tbsp veg.oil
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour to dredge Thepla dough
In a mixing bowl add all ingredients including 4 tbsp oil,. Keep remaining 2 tbsp of oil to brush it over Methi Thepla during cooking.
Mix everything well then build the dough to a medium consistency. Add water if need be.
Make 2 inch round dough balls & flatten them one at a time. Dust them one by one in all purpose flour and roll them flat. Again one at a time.
Cook each flattened Thepla in a preheated pan/skillet, about 2 minutes on medium-low heat. Brush both sides with veg. oil as each side turns brown.
Remove to a serving plate. Makes about 12 Methi Theplas.
