FAFDA CHUTNEY
Dipping Sauce for Fafda ( Indian Savory Snack) & Pita/Tortilla Chips. Made with split gram flour, mustard seeds, spices & more. Simply delicious!

- 3 cups split gram/Besan flour
- 3 cups water
- 2 tbsp veg.oil
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds Available at Indian grocery stores & Amazon
- 8 curry leaves Available at Indian grocery stores & Amazon
- 1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida Available at Indian grocery stores & Amazon
- 2 tbsp chopped ginger
- 1 finely chopped green chili
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder Available at Indian grocery stores & Amazon
- 1 tsp red chili powder Available at Indian grocery stores & Amazon
- 1/2 tsp amchur/dry mango powder Available at Indian grocery stores & Amazon
- salt to taste
In a mixing bowl add split gram flour/Besan and water. Mix well creating a thin slurry. Set aside.
Preheat sauce pan then add oil. Once the oil is hot reduce heat and add mustard seeds. Once they start popping add hing/asafoetida.
Now add curry leaves, green chili, ginger, turmeric & red chili powders. Mix well.
Next add gram flour/besan slurry & amchur/dry mango powder. Mix well & still continuously for 2 minutes. This is to ensure there are no lumps.
The mixture will start to thicken. Make sure its not too thick like a paste. Add water as needed.
Transfer to a serving bowl. Enjoy with Fafda, Pita or Corn tortilla Chips.
