Mixed vegetable balls are first flavored with soy sauce, white pepper, spring onions & more. Next they are deep fried then slow cooked in a delicious sweet, tangy & spice sauce. End result: An amazingly delicious Veg. Manchurian dish that will please everyone!

Ingredients
  

Ingredients For Veg. Ball Mixture

  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup finely chopped capsicum/bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped spring onion/scallion - white part
  • 2 tbsp corn starch, 1 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Pinch of white pepper powder
  • Salt to taste

Ingredients For Manchurian Sauce/Gravy

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of red chili sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp green chili-ginger paste
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

Other Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooking/veg. oil to fry Veg. Balls
  • 2 tbsp cooking veg. oil to make Manchurian gravy
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of chopped garlic
  • 3 cups water
  • Corn starch Slurry - 1 tbsp corn starch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped spring onion - green part
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl add all the ingredients listed under Veg. Ball Mixture
  • Mix well Make round balls from the mixture and put them in fridge for 30 minutes so that they firm up
  • In the mean time prepare Manchurian sauce/gravy in a small bowl by adding ingredients listed for it above. Mix well, set aside.
  • Heat 2 cups oil in a wok/sauce pan. While oil heats up remove Veg balls from fridge. Deep fry Veg. balls in oil on medium heat. Remove from pan to drain oil, set aside
  • Add 2 tbsp of cooking oil to a saucepan
  • Once oil is hot add chopped onion. Stir fry for 2 minutes until translucent
  • Add chopped garlic, stir fry for 30 seconds than add water. Mix well
  • Now add Manchurian sauce that we made earlier. Mix well then add corn starch slurry
  • Simmer for a minute until sauce thickens, then add Veg. balls that we deep fried earlier
  • With a spoon coat veg. balls with Manchurian sauce/gravy. Simmer for 1 more minute
  • Our delicious Veg. Manchurian with Gravy is ready!
  • Transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with finely chopped spring onion/scallion
  • Enjoy by itself, with steamed rice or noodles!
