Ingredients
- 2 slices Italian bread like Pane Turano
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise Hellman's
- 2 tbsp classic pesto by Barilla in the Italian section of your supermarket
- 1/4 lb over roasted turkey slices from the deli counter of your supermarket
- 1/2 onion thin round slices
- 4 slices pepper jack cheese
- 1/2 tomato thinly sliced - optional
- salt and crushed black pepper to taste
Instructions
Sandwich Spread
- Mix equal parts mayonnaise and classic pesto to create this easy to make delicious spread
For building the panini sandwich
- Spread the mayo/pesto spread on both slices of bread
- Layer one slice of bread with 4 slices of oven roasted turkey folding each slice and placing them next to each other diagonally so they don't stick out
- Next add slices of onion and tomato (optional), sprinkle with salt and crushed black pepper
- Layer pepper-jack cheese slices on top the same way as we did the turkey slices
- Put the 2nd bread slice on top and place the panini sandwich in a griddle/griddler. Press down the top lid of the griddle after setting it on panini setting. Set it on high to get nice grill marks on the sandwich
- Once the panini sandwich is done, as indicated by the light on the griddle, remove it and place it on chopping board. Slice it in the middle with a bread knife and transfer to plate
