Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Non stick pan

Ingredients
  

  • vegetable oil
  • 1 lbs catfish steaks
  • salt & crushed black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 tbsp cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp green chili-ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil canola
  • 2 cups gram flour
  • 1 cup water as need to make the flour into batter
  • pinch Chaat Masala available at Indian grocery stores

Instructions
 

  • For the Marinade
    In a mixing bowl add catfish steaks, salt, turmeric powder, crushed black pepper,cumin and coriander powder, red chili powder/paprika, green chili pepper-ginger paste & lemon juice. Set aside for an hour

For the batter

  • In a mixing bowl add gram flour, salt/crushed black pepper to taste, green chili-ginger paste. Next add water as needed and make a batter for frying the catfish steaks
  • Heat vegetable oil in pan and add catfish steaks. Cook for 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked. Transfer to plate and serve.
