How to make Fried Catfish

Equipment
- Mixing bowl
- Non stick pan
Ingredients
- vegetable oil
- 1 lbs catfish steaks
- salt & crushed black pepper to taste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 3 cloves garlic chopped
- 2 tbsp cumin powder
- 2 tbsp coriander powder
- 2 tbsp green chili-ginger paste
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil canola
- 2 cups gram flour
- 1 cup water as need to make the flour into batter
- pinch Chaat Masala available at Indian grocery stores
Instructions
- For the MarinadeIn a mixing bowl add catfish steaks, salt, turmeric powder, crushed black pepper,cumin and coriander powder, red chili powder/paprika, green chili pepper-ginger paste & lemon juice. Set aside for an hour
For the batter
- In a mixing bowl add gram flour, salt/crushed black pepper to taste, green chili-ginger paste. Next add water as needed and make a batter for frying the catfish steaks
- Heat vegetable oil in pan and add catfish steaks. Cook for 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked. Transfer to plate and serve.
