Cuisine American, Italian
- 2 slices Italian bread like Pane Turano
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise Hellman's
- 2 tbsp classic pesto by Barilla in the Italian section of your supermarket
- 1/4 lb over roasted turkey slices from the deli counter of your supermarket
- 1/2 onion thin round slices
- 4 slices pepper jack cheese
- 1/2 tomato thinly sliced - optional
- salt and crushed black pepper to taste
For building the panini sandwich
Spread the mayo/pesto spread on both slices of bread
Layer one slice of bread with 4 slices of oven roasted turkey folding each slice and placing them next to each other diagonally so they don't stick out
Next add slices of onion and tomato (optional), sprinkle with salt and crushed black pepper
Layer pepper-jack cheese slices on top the same way as we did the turkey slices
Put the 2nd bread slice on top and place the panini sandwich in a griddle/griddler. Press down the top lid of the griddle after setting it on panini setting. Set it on high to get nice grill marks on the sandwich
Once the panini sandwich is done, as indicated by the light on the griddle, remove it and place it on chopping board. Slice it in the middle with a bread knife and transfer to plate
