How to make Quinoa
Quinoa Recipe
Equipment
- non stick pan with lid
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion chopped
- 3 cloves garlic chopped
- 1.5 tbsp green chili/ginger paste add less quantity if you don't want it as spicy
- 1.5 cups quinoa/brown rice blend available at supermarkets
- 1 cup brown mushrooms sliced
- 1 tomato chopped
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp red paprika
- salt and crushed black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
Instructions
- Heat a non stick pan on medium heat, add olive oil, swirl to coat evenly
- Add onion to the pan, saute for a minute, toss in garlic & saute for 30 seconds
- Next stir in green chili/ginger paste, then add in the quinoa/brown rice blend
- Saute for a minute, add mushrooms & tomato, mix well then pour in water. Stir well then toss in salt/pepper, cumin powder, half the cilantro and paprika. Now cover the pan with its lid and cook for 15 minutes on medium.
- Check couple of times to ensure quinoa/rice are not sticking to the pan. Reduce flame and add some water as needed
- Once done separate the cooked grains with a fork transfer to a plate, garnish with remaining cilantro and Wallah! your quinoa is ready.
