Green Chili Chicken Recipe – How To Make Desi Chili Chicken

Quick, Easy & Delicious Green Chili Chicken

Half chicken skinned and cut into smaller pieces, cooked with green chilies, onions, garlic and a slew of Indian spices. Tastes great as appetizer or as a meal with Naan/Paratha.

Equipment

  • non stick saucepan with lid

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 chicken skin off, cut into smaller pieces
  • 4 tbsp veg. oil
  • 2 onions, chopped roughly
  • 3 green chilies, chopped roughly
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp cumin and coriander powder mix
  • 6 curry leaves
  • salt and crushed black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp dry fenugreek leaves-crushed
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger

Instructions
 

  • Heat saucepan, add veg.oil
  • Once oil is hot reduce flame to medium and add onions. Saute for 2 minutes then add garlic
  • Next add green chilies, curry leaves & ginger. Saute for a minute then add chicken pieces
  • Saute chicken until its cooked on the outside, then add red chili powder, turmeric coriander and cumin powders. Mix everything well then add garam masala and half of the chopped cilantro
  • Add water, mix well. Cover saucepan with lid and cook for 10 more minutes
  • Open lid once chicken is fully cooked and gravy has become thick and dry
  • Transfer to serving bowl and garnish with remaining cilantro leaves
