SAN DIEGO

GASTRO GURU RECOMMENDS

While in San Diego I definitely want you to eat at: Sushi Ota

Sushi Ota is tucked away in a strip shopping center next to a Seven Eleven but once you go in it’s a whole different world of aromas and flavors! For Appetizers make sure you have Tuna ( Blue Fin). This Nigiri is not available everywhere! I would also recommend Giant Clam Mirugai & Yellotail Jalepeno. We also had the Fried Salmon all of which was amazingly deilcious! For the Main Course we had Miso Marinated Seabass which was to die for! Last but not least I loved their Sushi Combo ! I could go to this place once a week if I lived in San Diego..

Cafe Sevilla

Cafe Sevilla-San Diego

I visited Cafe Sevilla, in the Gas Lamp Quarter of downtown San Diego, for the first time in 2005. Last year I was visiting Coronado Island to attend a destination wedding and visited it again.

The food at this authentic Spanish Tapas place was as delicious, if not more so second time around in 2018! Must haves are:

Traditional Paella Valenciana with mussels, clams, calamari, shrimp, pink scallops, chicken & grilled sausages. I call it pure heaven! Another dish that is out of this world was the Pata Negra Platter that consists of: A fine selection of cured slices of the Pata Negra pig including jamón Ibérico, Ibérico chorizo, Ibérico lomo & Ibérico salchichon.

Cafe Sevilla- San diego

Cafe Sevilla is much more than a authentic tapas place. It has a nice bar with some awesome Spanish and Portuguese wines. Also it has live musical performances, flaminco dancers and more! A must go to place when in San Diego!
